Avoid seed oils: a UK directory
Snacks, supermarket essentials, and fish & chips WITHOUT SEED OILS .
Whether eating out or eating in, we believe seed oils are bad for humans.
We want to make it easier for UK consumers to avoid them. This is not easy to do. The foods we buy in restaurants and supermarkets are now unnecessarily filled with cheap seed oils such as vegetable oils and palm oils.
Since the 1950s, industrialised seed oils have infiltrated ingredient lists to make manufacturers even more profit, but are they in fact making us sick?
Currently weโre focusing on the great British tradition of Fish & Chips, snacks and popular supermarket foods.

Fish & chips
Traditional fish and chips are cooked in beef tallow or beef dripping – not vegetable or palm oil (an industrialised seed oil extracted using chemicals and industrial processes, somewhat stealthily named to fool us into making a healthy association by our brains).
Weโre pulling together a list of UK fish and chip shops that still offer this much better option.

Snacks
Who doesnโt like a biscuit? No British person I know. But itโs difficult to find a snack that doesnโt contain seed oils. Most chocolate and crisps in the UK list palm or vegetable oil as an ingredient.
If you like to snack, but donโt want to subject your body to the consumption of seed oils, and donโt have time to make your own using seed oil free recipes.

Supermarket shopping
Our supermarket shelves are full of convenience foods, and we really love the convenience. However when choosing these pantry essential products, we are often unknowingly choosing seed oils.
So whether it’s mayo, hummus or pasta sauce, check the label for sneaky seed oils that your body doesn’t need, but they add to make it cheaper, or use our list!
Tips and opinion
Top tip: Look out for vegan friendly or plant based logos. This normally means cooked in or contains seed oils.
Info: Most seed oils contain Linoleic acid, which has a half life of around 700 days. This means they stay in your body for years and years.
Opinion: supermarkets and Big Food offer us incredible convenience in our fast paced lives, but why should we pay with our bodies for their profits?
Info: Animal fats are not bad for humans. They are believed to be how we evolved into the intellectual beings we are now.
Future plans: A site wide search functionality to find eating out options by postcode, town or county.
