Getting started
In August 2024, we started our first iteration of this website at www.avoidseedoils.wordpress.com. Despite zero web skills, we were inspired to create a website to help people avoid seed oils in their food.
After an initial spurt of energy, we got distracted by real life and moved on.
Months later. We spotted that even though we hadn’t done much with it (or more importantly added any new content) the visitor numbers were GROWING. Actual proof that people want to avoid seed oils.
Time to revisit the site
We quickly realised the limitations of a free wordpress website. No plugins or straightforward URL. So, we moved our content across to its new home at www.avoidseedoils.co.uk
Our current mission is to build a site that’s easier to use. We want a better search functionality, and a better usability when looking for seed oil free products. And, of course, we want a bigger directory. More products that are free from seed oils.
We want avoidseedoils.co.uk to be a useful, purpose-driven resource of seed oil free snacks, supermarket essentials, and fish and chip shops.

Would you like a forum or community to chat with others about how to avoid seed oils in your diet? Would you like us to link to where you can buy seed oil free snacks and essentials? What would be more useful? Is a search better than a list?
Seed oil free restaurants or ‘eating out options‘ is a future category that we’d love to include. However, we think it’s currently too difficult to categorise. A restaurant may well have seed oil free choices, but choose to still use seed oils. We think it’s perhaps more about education on what to order rather than where. What do you think?
Would recipes and videos of how easy it is to make your own foods be useful? For example, homemade mayonnaise or houmous.
